<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Jun 4 - "The guy's becoming a legend," Doug Collins said of Daniel Gibson during the outburst in which he hit all five of his three-pointers and was 7 of 9 shooting overall. "Two weeks ago, nobody had even heard of him, and now he's becoming a star."I'm thinking this might have effectively killed the prospect of sending Mike Bibby to Cleveland, considering the previous premise was that the Cavs needed another big piece to be a serious playoff contender. Even if the Cavs do lose to the Spurs, I'm guessing GM Danny Ferry would be hesitant to make any major changes to the roster that went to the NBA Finals.I do hear, though, that Miami is not among those teams afraid of taking on Ron Artest. -- Sacramento Bee</div>I'm a huge fan of Daniel Gibson so I don't see the need to trade for Mike Bibby. I mean, he is young and he is already making noise. I saw a girl wearing a got boobie shirt!
Daniel Gibson is perfect for the Cavs. He's the one who gets open so LeBron can hit it up when he draws the double and triple teams. No one is mentioning though how much Boobie gets in the lane and gets fouled. He's been shooting a bunch of free throws in the playoffs lately. I see no reason why the Cavs should go after Bibby. They need to focus on their frontcourt really.
Yes he scored like 16 on 4 FG attempts or something like that.I dont see why Cleveland would need Bibby anymore Its clear Cleveland just needs a couple tweaks, no need to trade a significant piece of your team(NBA Finals team) for Bibby. Develop Brown and Gibson, bring in another good player to compliment LeBron and I think the Cavs are set. But Bibby may not be best...
Bibbys plays one good series agaist the Pistons and you guys think you've got a career pg? Bibby would elevate the Cavaliers immensely. All boobie did agaist the pistons was take open shots when Lebron was getting doubled, that doesn't make him the answer to your prayers because of 6 games out of nearly 100. Maybe a decent 6th man but Bibby would be much more qualified.
Well I think boobie will be fine running the point in cleveland as what you guys said about him but can he pass the ball? and set his teamates up at various times? even if he isn't great at that you just know LeBron will be there to do that so it isn't really needed for gibson to exel in playmaking but yes it would be a plus if Gibson can do more than just shot the ball pretty well.
One good playoff run dosen't make you a star. Pistons were so detirmined not to allow LeBron to score that it let others elevate. The Spurs see the other four always as a threat. I don't see him having the same type of game and Bibby is still much more talented.
The Cavaliers already have Damon Jones and Eric Snow on contract, they are at least playable, and now you have Gibson who looks like he has a future. I don't think going after Mike Bibby is the smart move when this team already has some cap problems. Hell, LeBron even plays point. I think your better off addressing other issues.
Dan Gibson > Mike BibbyWe don't need Bibby when we have Gibson. We don't need a PG, LeBron brings the ball up the court 75% of the time anyways, we just need a player at the PG spot who can knock down open 3's, and Gibson does that, better then most people in the league.
People are questioning Gibson's passing skills, but the Cavs don't really need him to pass. LeBron is the set up man and playmaker on the team, so they really don't need another one. Boobie has been doing what he needs to do, and not just in game 6. He's been doing it the whole season, and LeBron trusts him, as well as the whole team. Gibson is the spot up shooter on the team, and LeBron is the playmaker. That's how the Cavs run, and it's working, so why fix it? Not to mention, Boobie gets in the lane and gets fouled a lot.
Bibby would allow Lebron to open up his game much more. I wouldnt be surprised if with Bibby Bron could score 50%+ from the field. BTW Damon Jones and Eric Snow are garbage pgs. Even in Eric snow's prime all he could do was play defense.
LeBron could do that just as easily without Bibby, all he has to do is play in the post more. He's our best post player and Mike Brown for whatever reason only puts him down there a handful of times per game. I like Gibson more then Bibby because A) I think Bibby is a better shooter (at least from 3pt range which is all I really care about) and Because he's not going to take any ill advised or forced shots. Bibby is a guy who will be taking shots from LeBron, Gibson is a guy who will patiently wait for LeBron to find him with an opening and nail the 3.And yes, Amon Ones and Eric Slow are pretty pathetic. Although, Slow can still get it done on the defensive side of the ball.
Wait, since when did Gibson become a point guard? Hes not a point guard, hes a shooting guard trapped in a point guards body. How many assist does this guy get? How many times does he set-up players on offense? Zero times. He isn't a point guard, and I don't think he will be one. Do I want Mike Bibby? Of course not, I want to go after a defensive big this off-season so we can fill that role down-low. Hughes has done a fine job at the 1, leave him there and work on getting a big this off-season. IMO anyway.
We don't need a PG who can set up the offense or average a lot of assists, LeBron basically handles the offense.

LeBron is the true PG on the Cavs, but he plays the SF because it opens his game up even more, and it helps the rest of the Cavs lineup as far as matchups. Gibson is the perfect guy to compliment LeBron, and bringing in Bibby would only slow down his development process.
We need LeBron to be more active off the ball. James is normally the guy that has the ball in his hands for mostly the whole game, and on ever offensive time down the floor. Even though LeBron is the guy that needs to have the ball in his hands, if he was able to work without the ball, this offense would be much better. A point guard is missing, but we need more than a point guard IMO.
