Ilgauskas Puts On Show In NBDL Country ASHEVILLE, N.C., Oct. 8 (Ticker) -- The folks in NBDL country came to see LeBron James. The Cleveland Cavaliers had to like what they saw from Zydrunas Ilgauskas. On a quiet night for James, Ilgauskas scored 19 points as the Cavaliers held on for an 83-80 preseason victory over the Atlanta Hawks. James, the teenage rookie sensation whom the Cavaliers selected first overall in the NBA draft, scored just six points on 3-of-7 shooting. Playing the entire first and third quarters, the 6-8 swingman had one highlight, a breakaway dunk at the end of the third period that sent a buzz through the sellout crowd of 6,007 at Asheville Civic Center, the home of the NBDL's Asheville Altitude. However, a bigger story may have been Ilgauskas, who had his minutes limited last season in an effort to reduce the strain on his fragile feet, which have had multiple fractures. Since being drafted in 1996, he never has made it through consecutive years without a foot injury. Playing 26 minutes for the second straight night, Ilgauskas made 6-of-7 shots, 7-of-10 free throws and grabbed eight rebounds. An All-Star last season, he clearly was the best player on the court. The Hawks had a chance to force overtime, but free agent signee Lee Nailon missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Darius Miles had 13 points, seven rebounds and eight assists and Ricky Davisscored 12 points for the Cavs, who rested guards Kevin Ollie and Dajuan Wagnerand former Hawk forward Ira Newble. Trying to make the Hawks as a reserve frontcourt player, journeyman Obinna Ekezie had 18 points and 13 rebounds. Dion Glover added 16 points for Atlanta, which rested forwards Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Alan Henderson and guard Dan Dickau. Link
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting deestillballin:</div><div class="quote_post">I thought Miles was capable of hitting the 3? </div> Davis is our best 3 point shooter, he stepped up big time last year with a solid 3 point %, but I still want a specialist. I would not feel safe with Miles jacking 3's all night, I want him to create, get in the lane, finish and dish.
