Who would you rather have the Yankees sign? The Bombers will likely let Giambi walk, leaving a hole at 1B. Teix is truly a great two-way threat, a master with the glove and with the bat. However, stats show that Tex is weak, when pitched a breaking pitch with 2 strikes. With the great Yankee protection, he shouldn't have to worry too much about that.

CC is one of the true work-horses in the MLB. Does this help or hurt his chances to get a big contract? His arm has many miles on it, but has shown that he can give the pen a rest, even when he's not pitching well. Sabathia has shown he can pitch in the NL and AL very well, so expect many bidders. CC hasn't pitched well in the playoffs, though the sample-size is small. We'll see what happens in the playoffs this year.

Taking everything into consideration, including contract, age, and expected prime, who would you rather have?

I think I'd go Sabathia. A rotation of CC, Wanger, Moose, Joba, and Hughes sounds pretty good to me.

IMO CC's a bust waiting to happen at the money he's gonna get. I think Teixiera would be a much better bet for NY, because he's a younger bat that can complement some of the older hitters on that roster.

I pretty much concur with this, I put priority on the rotation right now.

Sabathia no question. The Yankees' problem has been pitching for ages. They keep adding big bats every year and slowly get worse every year. Offense is nice but defense is what wins. Sabathia is a stud and has a body built for eating innings and durability. It would be a great fit for both parties but I don't know if the Yankees have wised up at all, they could be too enamored with the young offensively gifted Teixiera.

I hope Sabathia doesn't go to the Yankees but I think it would be the smartest thing to do not only for the Yanks but also for Sabathia. Wish he would come back to the bay but with the A's would never drop the coin to land him and the Giants' rotation is full (plus they already have fuggin Zito at huge money).

Sabathia is a big time GS Warriors fan so you know hes smart and gonna to the right thing ;).

Is it possible to get both? Many contracts come off the books this year and next (Matsui, I-Rod, Damon, Abreu, Giambi, Pettitte, and Moose), and we'll have tons of picks anyway this year, with Abreu, Pettitte, Moose and I-Rod as Type A, and Giambi probably being type B, and with us not signing our top 2 picks.

Oh, and Carl Pavano comes off the books too.

I couldn't of said that better myself. The Yankees always add big bats but their problem is pitching. Even if Sabathia is a failure in the playoffs, you still have to get to the playoffs first.

    Shouldn't pitching come before batting?

In my projected rotation, 4 of those guys could be a 1 or a very good 2 starter in the league, after developing. Wow.

Yeah, I went with Sabathia. Not only does he seem really dominant, but also Mark Teixeira wasn't anything special with the Braves.

They need pitching, so I'll say Sabathia. Plus like Run said, he's a Warrior fan. :D

Is there any question it should be CC? He would stabalize our rotation immensely. A rotation of CC, Wang, Muss, Pettite and Joba looks pretty damn good to me, assuming Pettite doesn't retire after this season...and same with Muss.

I hope we offer Andy arbitration, and someone picks him up. He'll probably be Type A, and B at worst.

Hahahaha. Don't worry, I really don't think the Giants can sign him. They can afford him, but they have enough pitching and no hitting and haven't gotten a reasonable trade offer for any of their pitchers yet. But I do find it funny that they are (supposedly) his top choice.
