Now I'm not talking about end zone celebrations, how about those "I tackled you for a 15 yard gain and I'm losing by 30 points but I'm still the man," celebrations. I get sick and tired of guys doing a dance for every tackle they make, even if the guy has just run for a first down. Class... class... class... where has it gone?

Funny Dawk. That's like selling a stock after it has lost half of its value and doing a dance because you didn't lose all your money. Clever comeback anyway. That might be like saying me gaining 15 pounds over the holidays will prove I didn't gain 30. (Look out for the Cowboy71 dance.)

I agree Rube. Do your job and save the celebration for the big stuff. I always critized those special teams guys that dance when they made a simple tackle. Of course, some of those guys are just plain crazy anyway.

How about TJ Duckett scoring on a short TD run and then celebrating in the end zone as if he just cured cancer...did I mention the score was Indy 30 Atl 7!!!!!!

It's all about the inividual these days. You can't honestly expect these money hungry atheletes to stop and respect a game that's older than them..... after they have to draw attention to themselves and their soon-to-be contract squabbles. It's so hard to make it in the league now and players are doing what ever it takes to get into the spotlight. How many times have you heard or said; "Now that is going to be on 'Sportscenter'". Yes, it's true. We, the fans, endorse it as well. I'm all for it. I don't want somebody going out and calling their mom on a cell phone that they can't even find, because that's too pre-meditated. Give me the pom-poms and the Ernest Givens electric slide any old day and i can't wait to see that slama-jamma on Sportscenter followed by a good old throat slash in the opponents face. Now that's sports!!!

I like it when a player has a standard celebration that he does everytime he scores...thats good for the league because it promotes the excitement behind the game(the Icky shuffle was great, the electric slide was better, TDs salute was very classy), and it gives that player a signiture the fans can look for. I also like when teams celebrate together(Rams "bob and weave", the Redshins "fun bunch"), its good because it promotes team goals. I like it when a player makes a big play and spontaneosly errupts....I have no problem with players who play with passion and emotion and show it when they are doing well....but.....I hate solo celebrations that are designed to draw attention solely to a single player just for that moment, like "Sharpiegate" or "Joe on the Horn". If you want to make up a unique dance that you will do when you score, and let the fans have fun with it, OK, but to plan this singular acts of "me-isms", that damages the team and the game...

Great post, Beef. So what dance is the DWO going to adopt? The Rump Shaker? The Mashed Potato? The Macarena?

I wonder if Ray Lewis calls this his "Eddie George Took Every Hit I Gave Him and Sent Me Home" dance.

Even though this isn't where u complain about the "Celebration Penalty" but I love end zone dances It's so exciting to see Men let there emotions go, in a society where men have to quiet and emotionless. There is nothing wrong with a football player being excited about scoring a TD even if the Score 70-7 the other team you know. What gets me is why you are penalized 25 or 15 yards for being excited for helping your team when you score. To me it seems like the Officals in the NFL are a bunch of the "Emotionless, No cry Men" men. And then they have a rule where now basically a Defensive Back can't touch a WR now to be a great def is almost impossible now. We are gonna see like 50-40 points games this is so stupid. And who celebrates and does Egotistical and "too good for you dances" anyway? The Wide Recivers. So it is a contradicting thing..

Regarding touchdown celebrations... My favorite play in football is the one where the guy who just scored hands the ball to the nearest official and trots to the sideline. That is closely followed by the one where they hand the ball to a fan in the stands.

I'm with Chip on that one. The more humble the better. I think it just rubs it in properly to not be so "in your face".

Then I guess it would be a pink slipper with racing stripes.

Bet you wish you hadn't opened that can of worms...
