Which is the better team? Discuss it here. I will add some thoughts later on. I think it is a pretty good topic. Discuss. Which team will finish with the better record, and why? Break it down.
This one is tough. I've got to go with the Celtics as being the better team next season because they've got more blooming players and have a super star in Paul Pierce. They're well rounded at every position and don't lack players or skill at any position. Once players like Tony Allen,Delonte West,Gerald Green,Perkins,Gomes,Telfair and Rondo hit their potential, the Celtics could be a championship contender and one of the best teams in the league. Standing Predictions:Boston Celtics 42-40Milwaukee Bucks 40-42
Very close, but I also feel the Celtics will have the better record this season, and they have the much brighter future.
ouch, this one is close. i honestly think barring injury that the Bucks will have a slightly better record, but next year the Cs will leap ahead of them.
im gonna have to go with the bucks. I dont think that they lost that much at the PG spot because they had an excellent back up in Mo Williams and they gained at beast at the PF spot. Their starting lineup looks really good to me. IF the celtics can stay healthy and Doc Rivers doesnt act like a complete moron with his rotations, the C's might have a better record this year. It is going to be very close...
I think they will both be right there in the playoff hunt in the weak bottom of the East, but I really do like the Celtics. For the Bucks, Redd is very good and an improving Villanueva + Bogut should give them a nice duo in the front court, but the Celtics just have so many good players. A lot of them are young and will continue their development and be better this year than previous years. They have so much talent with Telfair, Wally, Pierce, Jefferson, West, Gomes, Green and others. Some of them like Green won't be ready yet but most of them should have pretty good years. And I also think they will have the better record because of the fact that they play in a much easier division and will have more match-ups against weaker teams while the Bucks go against Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland in their division.Edit: I agree with ballerman that the Bucks have a very nice starting line-up but I like all the players the Celts have. Their depth should be pretty good and their starters aren't too shabby either.
You guys (no one in particular) got to remember that the Celtics ultra-talented youth will have another year of experience and will have bigger roles on the team. Telfair, Green, Jefferson, and Delonte all are very talented and very young, and are only getting better as time goes on. At least 3 of them have all star potential (haven't seen jefferson play much so I will withhold judgement). Not saying they are going to blossom and meet their potential this year, but I love the Celtics youth and how each of the players have gotten better (with exception of Green since last year was his rookie year, but he will be much better this year with more playing time).
I like to hear this about our youth, i really do. i just think that until we clear up this logjam, we're going to struggle a little bit. line-ups will be inconsistent and chemistry will be hindered. Development will slow down with less chemistry.

We need to make a 2-for-1 or a 3-for-2 trade in order to clear up the minutes logjam (especially with the wings) and we need to live/die by our choices. Delonte West, Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Kendrick Perkins, Ryan Gomes, Tony Allen, Rajon Rondo - awesome young talent, but they all can't reach their potential on the same team.. especially playing behind players like Paul Pierce and Wally Szczerbiak. Minutes is a huge factor. But even with that said, I say we will have the better record. Milwaukee still has a solid PG in Mo, but they lost their floor general, and that's always a huge blow. It should be interesting to see CV/Bogut grow alongside Redd, but this team lacks bench depth. We have more depth and we definitely have better overall young talent. I like the Bucks, though, and I think their frontcourt tandem is going to be nice in the future - but if our young guys reach expectations then we could have a future contender. Milwaukee is still a little rough around the edges and they need a couple extra decent players off the bench.

Ford if he can stay healthy and and as good of a young duo as you can find in the league with Charlie Villanueva and Andrew Bogut who are only entering their 2nd season. I think the Celtics will have a better record but it won't be by that much. We are pretty screwed if Maurice Williams gets injured and by the looks of last year it worries me...Depth is our major issue, if Villanueva goes down we don't have as many options last year without Joe Smith or Jamaal Magloire. The Celtics have a luxery with depth but I think much of their young talent is overdone....Delonte West is solid but no superstar, Al Jefferson has been a dissapointment so far, Perkins was only an average NBA prospect to begin with, Sebastian Telfair was traded for a reason....I love Gomes, Rondo, Allen and Green.

Considering Ford's streaky production it's very much possible.</div>well, his streakiness has SOME to do with splitting time with Mo Williams. He will get sufficient minutes this year in Toronto and have a good year. Also, this was his first year back from a very big injury. He will have more confidence this year and he will be a better player. And there is no way in hell he will or is better than Ford. Shooting and that is about all IMO.
Ford is much better at running an offense and passing the ball then Mo. But Maurice can shoot, and put points on the board. It's that simple. It depends what type of pg you want for your team. A Gilbert Arenas type, or a Steve Nash type.

But he still won't be on the level of TJ Ford. Ford runs an offense much better and he's more of a floor general. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Sep 7 2006, 06:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Off-topic, but JW man.^^ Are you aware that "coming" is spelt wrong in your Al Jefferson sig?</div> Haha no I never noticed that. Hopefully PF11 will fix it lol. Thanks.
TJ Ford is quicker, a better passer and a better leader than Mo. TJ Ford has barely scratched his potential. He will flourish in Toronto.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nba dogmatist @ Sep 7 2006, 09:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>TJ Ford is quicker, a better passer and a better leader than Mo. Speed rating for Ford would be a 95 and for Williams would be a 90 in my mind. Yes he's a better passer. A better leader? Not really. T.J. Ford never took command of the team or showed obvious leadership abilities, he blended in more than anything else. Williams is definatly more of an emotional player and talks a lot more but he's not a team leader either. If I had a choice to keep either player it would be T.J. Ford but all i'm saying is, it's much closer than people think. T.J. Ford gets lit up on defense regularly and is not a threat on offense and thats a big thing I didn't like when he played. Unless he was running the break or running and dishing he didn't do a damn thing and thats why you felt like he was invisable for much of the game. Maurice Williams is a huge offensive threat. Before his plantar problems he lighting folks up and was a top choice for 6th man of the year. He's probably a SG in a PG's body but he can hold down the point and do a good job, he was a hell of a player at Alabama. Anyone that watched most of the Bucks games last year can see that Williams loves to shoot the ball and sometimes too much but his talent is ridiculously underrated and if he's un-injured this year is going to blow up.
you can't say that TJ Ford wasn't a threat on offense. He was the team's playmaker. He had the ball alot and help set up everybody. He is an excellent penetrator. I've seen him take leadership plenty of times. Not only did he lead an overachieving longhorns team to a final 4, i've seen him a few times on the bucks playing well. One of the first games of the year, against Philly if i remember right (it was an OT game if that helps), Ford and Redd completely put the teams on their backs, and they won the game after a comeback. I also saw him play very well against the Magic, with something like 32 and 11 (also an OT game i think).
Milwaukee will probably have a better year this year. But in the future, the Celtics will have a way better team because of players like:Gerald GreenSebastian TelfairAl JeffersonDelonte WestTony AllenKendrick Perkinswhile Milwaukee only have:Andrew BogutCharlie VillanuevaMaurice Williams(the rest are veterans)If I had to pick a team to coach I would say Boston simply because of theyre unlimited potential.
