"It is the best of times for the Giants, fresh off their Super Bowl triumph, so they can deal with the long wait tonight as the first round of the NFL Draft ebbs and flows to them. First on the field in the 2011 season, they are last in the round and, unless they trade up or — more likely — down, must wait until 31 prospects are off the board before making their selection.

    Bummer? Not at all.

"You just wait and see if somebody is going to fall to you or if there is somebody you may be able to move up for, that you're in love with,'' general manager Jerry Reese said. "It's always a good problem to have when you're picking 32.''

There are many different directions the Giants can go. The need for a tight end arose after Jake Ballard and Travis Beckum both went down with serious knee injuries in the Super Bowl. Stanford's Coby Fleener makes sense, a 6-foot-6 target who could instantly emerge as a threat after spending the past four years in a pro-style offense, meaning he should be able to slip comfortably into an Eli Manning-led attack."
