<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Free agent safety Marlon McCree agreed to a five-year, $16 million deal with San Diego on Saturday night, an upgrade for the Chargers' light-hitting secondary. McCree, who had been with the Carolina Panthers, will make $6 million in bonuses and guaranteed money in the first two years of the deal. He was the first player to visit the Chargers after free agency opened Friday night. General manager A.J. Smith said the coaching staff will decide whether McCree will play free or strong safety. "He's a terrific football player, very versatile," Smith said. "He's tough and competitive." McCree had 88 tackles and three interceptions for Carolina last year. He spent the 2003-04 seasons with the Houston Texans after beginning his career in Jacksonville.http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-c...ov=ap&type=lgns</div>

It is a tiny bit much for him, but he's actually a very good safety. And he's coming off his best season.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>McCree had 88 tackles and three interceptions for Carolina last year.</div>

Dom Panthers, instead of building team to get better, they're losing key players

^ You can't really say they're losing much, when McCree leaving will have the talented, ballhawk, Thomas Davis starting at SS.

We still have the main corps. of our defense. Losing Witherspoon was a big blow, but Thomas Davis is waiting in the wings...and he showed he has what it takes to be a playmaker at LB vs. the Falcons last year.Decent signing for the Chargers, overpaid a bit but McCree will step in and be solid. He has a knack for the interception.

I remember when McCree sucked but now he has worked hard to become a good player and the Chargers noticed that. I dont really think he's worth that much but i dont care cuz its not my team.
