Charlie Ward... According to ESPN's David Aldridge Ward is deciding between San Antonio and Houston on where he will sign after he was waived by the Suns today.DA said Charlie would really like to play for a contender and likes S.A Would be a very good back-up to Tony Parker.Very steady player with a good shot on him. Thoughts?
I don't know - I don't see him as a "Defense First" player, like the rest of the SPurs, nor can I see him molding into that easily, or quickly enough. But if he could, he would indeed be a good backup for Parker. Of course, I like Jason Hart. He's doing a lot better now, and he's not fighting everyone for shot attempts. He gets to the boards and he makes the good pass.
I think they'll still keep Hart around, but see Ward as more of a servicable backup with the veteran expertise to really help Parker in a way that Hart can't. I see him going to San Antonio. Good fit. And now that Carter isn't with the Spurs anymore, a backup for the next few years is something the Spurs will need. If they sign Ward to a three year deal, it should last just as long as his playing abilities hold up.
i like Hart, but if spurs tries Ward what will happen to Garcia? he's a pg too, from what i've heard, garcia is pretty good
And he just got back from injury. Garcia is a decent player, and I wanted to see both him and Brown out on the court more.
