I talked with Chauncey Billups about what's next for him. He's open to playing next year but only in right situation: http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nba-pm-chauncey-billups-weighing-options/

Chauncey Billups tells me that if he does retire, he'll likely become an executive or broadcaster next, not a coach: http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nba-pm-chauncey-billups-weighing-options/

.@Joe_Abunassar has trained Billups his whole career: "This is best I’ve seen him since he was a perennial All-Star." http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nba-pm-chauncey-billups-weighing-options/

I think he'd be a nice pickup if he can still play. I'd love for Dame to learn from him.

I think he'd be a good fit in the earl Watson role if we decide to roll with CJ and Barton as our bench backcourt

Yeah. I'd love to see him in the Earl Watson role. Not sure if that's how he sees himself though.

I believe he does. That's another reason why I brought him up.

I would love for him to come over. I see him as somewhere between Earl Watson and Mo - Watson was just there for blowouts or when every other guard was sick or had fouled out, but Billups could probably play meaningful minutes - just not many of them.

HOWEVER: if I was him, I'd be looking to go into coaching. I'd be looking at Derek Fisher very enviously. Also Jason Kidd. Also Jacque Vaughn. So my other suggestion of making him a very highly paid assistant coach probably wouldn't wash (or would make Stotts incredibly nervous).

He specifically said he doesn't want to coach. He either wants a job in the front office or in broadcasting.

watson already mentored the guards we have, time for a player who can play half a game and contribute if needed.
