<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Chiefs release veteran S WoodsESPN.comKANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - The Kansas City Chiefs released veteran safety Jerome Woods on Thursday. Woods missed 16 games due to injuries over the last two seasons and lost his starting free safety job to Greg Wesley in 2005. A first-round pick of the Chiefs in 1996, Woods started 105 of 128 games and recorded 720 tackles, 15 interceptions, 49 passes defensed and five sacks. "It's always difficult to say goodbye to a good football player and a really fine person," Chiefs president Carl Peterson said. "Jerome Woods certainly fits into both of those categories. He is a consummate professional both on and off the field." Woods made the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2003 after missing the entire 2002 campaign to a broken leg.</div>As sad as it is, it's time. He has been going down hill since 2002 when he missed the entire season. One of my all-time favorite Chiefs, but he had to go. I think that this is indicating good things for Bernard Pollard. I think the next on the list to go is Wesley, but he has playmaking ability. Oh well, maybe another team picks up Woods, or he just retires.
He had some FANTASTIC seasons in KC. I think the injuries really hurt him physically and mentally. He might end up in Miami.
