That is the one thing that sticks out too me is Cho saying he is a stat guy. That's scary stuff folks. Can you judge players like Batum on stats? I hate stat guys because they are NERDS who never had a spec of athletic ability now trying to make basketball a scientific equation. STAT GUY?? REALLY?

Amare Stoudemire is a STAT guy. Call him a nerd. He'd probably beat you to within an inch of your life. That's what jocks do.

Good size and run/jump measurements for a SF, high shooting % from the field, 3 point range, and the line. High PER trending up, etc... etc... Yeah, you can. I like that the new GM is a math guy/hoops geek... from the sounds of it, I'm sure he's following his own favorite mathematical trends/systems that we don't find on basketballreference and the like.

what was your last handle here?

Did Michael Jordan's Airness translate to assembling a competitive team?? Stat is not all but it isn't a bad thing to be smart with numbers. .

To Sonic fans, Cho was the stat guy under GM Sund. He came up with new Hollinger-like formulas. He was also their CBA and cap specialist. He was not a talent evaluator, in person, just on the computer. In OKC, GM Presti had him scout this last season, his only scouting experience.

The OP is right to be alarmed. But a good scouting staff will compensate.

HCP is a Maurice Lucas, the board enforcer.
