<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NEW YORK --New Orleans Hornets forward Chris Andersen has been thrown out of the NBA for drug use. Officially, the NBA announced Friday that Andersen has been dismissed and disqualified from the league for violating the terms of the Anti-Drug Program, which were agreed to by the league and the Players Association. The league, teams and the union cannot publicly discuss or disclose information regarding testing or treatment of any player other than to announce a player's suspension or dismissal. Andersen cannot apply for reinstatement for at least two years. Under terms of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, any player testing positive for drugs of abuse (amphetamines, cocaine, LSD, opiates (heroin, codeine and morphine) and PCP) can be disqualified from the NBA. Players who test positive for steroids or performance enhancing drugs, masking agents and diurectics get a 10 game suspension (1st offense), a 25-game suspension (2nd offense), a one year suspension (3rd offense) and disqualification (fourth offense). Marijuana penalties are $25,000 fine (2nd offense), a five-game suspension (3rd offense), a 10-game suspension for the fourth offense, and five additional games for each subsequent violation.</div> Source
Well it wasn't weed, so it had to be PCP, heroin, LSD, codeine, or morphine. My guess is codeine or PCP.
I doubt it was PCP, but codeine can be found in cough syrups. My guess is LSD or cocaine judging from the way he looks and acts.
This almost guarentees that he won't be in the dunk contest this year, thank god. Reguardless of what he was using this guy is a total loser in my mind. Also he passed up around $14 million, ouch.
i heard that if you eat a poppyseed bagel before a drug test, the results come in as if you did use drugs. its something about the poppyseeds. maybe chris andersen just ate a bad bagel?
Damn I just posted this in the NBA forum, I looked in the Nuggets forum I thought he was still playing for them LOL Well it is not really a big loss because he did not really do anything.

Poppyseed bagel It takes more than one poppyseed bagel... A week's worth will do it. Happened to my brother (and no, he's not a cokehead.) As for Chris Andersen, if he really did fail legitimately, then he's an idiot. Way to throw away the best job in the world. I hope he likes bagging groceries.

no wonder he missed so many dunks in dunk contests...apparently the drugs made him jump too high and missed the aim

You'd need to eat hundreds of poppy seed bagels to test positive for opiates, because the morphine in the seeds appears in such trace amounts. However, the sensitivities of drug tests may vary greatly. We have no idea exactly how sensitive the NBA's drug test is, but you'd have to be extremely naive to believe that poppy seed bagels were the reason that Chris Andersen failed his drug test. Judging just by his mannerisms, I'd think that Chris Andersen was taking acid, and while he may have been, that's harder to test for than most drugs, leaves your system after a day or so, and usually has to be specially requested for testing, so that's probably not what got him kicked out of the league. Cocaine is a serious possibility though.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TmacGarnett:</div><div class="quote_post">Did you get that from Seinfeld?</div> I was thinking the same thing
I think it would have to some kind of chemical(s) if he got kicked out of the league for 2 years. Possibly Ecstacy, Crystal Meth, or Cocaine.
there is no way he was taking acid. he would be completely unable to play basketball if he was on acid. i would say cocaine or crystal meth or some other stimultant - is ephedrine on the list?

If he took it in between games, he could play basketball, and it would possibly still be in his system upon testing.

He'd start to think the ball was trying to eat him.
