Chris Bosh

Associated Press

8/15/2007 4:20:48 PM

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Toronto Raptors forward Chris Bosh withdrew from U.S. basketball training camp Wednesday because of a left foot injury.

Bosh has plantar fasciitis and will not play in the FIBA Americas tournament that starts next week, USA Basketball spokesman Craig Miller said.

The six-foot-10, 230-pound Bosh will remain on the team and under consideration for a spot if the Americans qualify for the 2008 Olympics. His withdrawal leaves the Americans with 15 players.

Bosh was hobbled in the pre-season last year by plantar fasciitis, a painful foot ailment caused by the inflammation of the plantar fascia tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot. The problem is common among the NBA's big men, and can prove costly if it doesn't clear up.

This is probably the best thing that could happen, his nagging left foot pretty much held Bosh back last season after playing for Team USA and wasnt 100% while on the Raptors. However withdrawling himself from camp and the tournament this summer Chris Bosh should be ready for this up coming season which I am excited to begin.

Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo said the injury will not affect Bosh's status in Toronto's upcoming training camp.

    Well, I guess that's a plus.

good. IMO he didn't fit in there, anyways (not that it really matters).

i thought battier and hinrich should've stayed, though, their perimeter defense is needed more.

I agree. This was a good thing. Bosh gets to sit out and rest his foot for the regular season.

He will probably be almost 100% by the time the season rolls around.
