The Minnesota Timberwolves today signed Santa Cruz Warriors center Chris Johnson for the 16th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2012-13 NBA Development League season. Johnson joins more than 110 players with NBA D-League experience currently on NBA rosters. Johnson (6-11, 210, Louisiana State) has appeared in 14 games for the Warriors this season, averaging 10.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 25.6 minutes. He scored a season-high 24 points in a Dec. 23 win over the Springfield Armor and pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds in a Jan. 8 loss to the Austin Toros. A 41-game NBA veteran, Johnson joins the Timberwolves with NBA career averages of 2.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 7.6 minutes during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics and New Orleans Hornets. Johnson is expected to join the Timberwolves today and be available tonight when the team hosts the Houston Rockets in Minnesota.
