Paul, who led all rookies with 21 double-doubles, averaged rookie highs of 16.1 points and 7.8 assists while recording 5.1 rebounds and 2.24 steals. Paul finished the 05-06 season ranked first in total steals (175), third in steals per game (2.24) and seventh in assists per game (7.8) in the NBA. Paul became just the second rookie in NBA history (Brevin Knight-1997-98) to lead the NBA in total steals. Paul set seven Hornet rookie records during the season including most assists in a season and game, highest free throw percentage for a season, most free throws made and attempted in a game and most steals in a season and game. The voting panel consisted of the NBA's 30 head coaches, who were asked to select five players for the first team and five players for the second team, regardless of position. It's not even close. What's with the all-rookie team anyway. Why don't just announce that Chris Paul is the best Rookie, give him an award, and next year don't shaft him by leaving him off the All-Star team.
They have the all rookie team every year it’s kind of like the all NBA first team for rookies, make them feel good about themselves. Everyone knows Chris is the ROY the NBA just has a certain time table to officially announce this stuff/let the media report it.
