According to ESPN and Chris Broussard just a minute ago. Odom to NO. Gasol to Houston - other details to follow. Mod - please put an "a" in my thread title above. Thx
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML Shit will get real when they announced Dwight Howard is a Laker too.
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML Rumored pau and odom; it's actually a good thing. They have gotten real thin. Also now they may not have enough to get Howard. I would much rather them have Paul then Howard.
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML How soon before somebody digs up the little clip of David Stern saying he'd like the Lakers to be in the finals every year. (He was joking of course, but the NBA does own the Hornets...)
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML Odom + Gasol gone. They def. add star power, but they lose the things that made them stand out from the rest of the league: size, length, and rebounding.
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML The NBA wants it to happen so they will get Howard... With ease
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML Why? You really think Orlando can't do better than Andrew Bynum? Hell, if I was the Heat, I'd offer LeBron James.
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML Interesting. So the team that is owned by the league just traded their best player to the leagues favorite franchise...? Granted, it now means the Lakers have 1 awesome albeit aging players, a gimp (Bynum) a nutjob (artest) and a player who apparently has bad knees (Paul). I wouldn't think that Orlando's best offer is Bynum for Howard. But if they somehow get him, I think it sends a strong message to the rest of the league, and that message is "why even bother?"
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML What I want to know is what Luis Scola is thinking about now. I wonder what it would take to redirect him Portland-ward.
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML Chris Paul's knee might be as balky as Roy's ... we'll see how this turns out (I'm guessing it doesn't actually add up to much).
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML Yeah, I like this a lot (so far). Paul and Bryant are less than the sum of their parts (which is two good knees), while Odom and Pau were unselfish and multi-skilled. Maybe they would've been less vital in a team that is no longer playing the triangle, but I guess we won't know.
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML they probably can, but when has that ever mattered with the L*kers.
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML Who's gonna be their big man if...err WHEN Bynum goes down? Walton will play PF now. It's not a foregone conclusion that they will land Dwight. They have no one to offer ORL.
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML I agree with this "sky is falling" sentiment. The NBA has absolutely become the league of "Haves" and "Have Nots". There's 5-6 premier teams, and the other 20-odd are simply the farm, feeder, Washington General-style teams, and always will be. They aren't even subtle about it anymore. Fans of teams like Milwaukee, Portland, Utah, New Orleans, Philly... there's practically no hope anymore. Yes, there will be occassional fluke seasons where a non-annointed franchise catches lightening in a bottle and makes a run at a couple of season's titles. But that's it. I believe the days of even the San Antonios are over. The era of the large market "superteam" is upon us and there's no looking back.
Re: Chris Paul is now Laker . . . FML Calm down, chicken littles. Remember when the Lakers got Karl Malone and Gary Payton? And they didn't even have to give up two top-ten PFs to get them. The Heat should be happy. Not only are they no longer the most hated team, they just got Shane Battier.
