As of 12:00 this afternoon (EST) it is official that Chris Paul with enter the NBA draft and sign with an agent <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- All-America point guard Chris Paul will give up his final two years of eligibility at Wake Forest and enter the NBA draft The school scheduled a news conference for Thursday afternoon, when Paul planned to announce his decision. Paul will sign with an agent, sources told ESPN.com's Andy Katz. He is likely to be a top 5 pick. "We expect him to announce that he's going to declare for the NBA draft,'' athletic department spokesman Dean Buchan said..</div> source
I agree with his decision, if your going to be a top five pick in the NBA draft it's hard to pass it up. A team like the Bobcats or Hawks will most likly take a chance at Paul early in the draft (say #2 or #3) so I can understand why he is leaving. His speed in my mind makes up for his number one weakness which is his height. In my mind, right now, Paul goes anywhere from 2-6.

At the very least, I'd enter my name and not hire an agent. If you think about it, Chris Paul is likely a lock for the top 5 and could go as high as #2. However, if he stayed in college a year, then he would most likely be a top 3 lock and could be going as high as #1 (especially if an age limit is passed and Oden has to go to school). Also, you have to consider that he's leaving Wake Forest without any real tournament success there. For the two years that he was there, he was arguably the best player in Wake Forest history, even moreso than Tim Duncan. However, because he's leaving after two years his jersey may not even be retired at Wake. If he stayed a third year, Wake Forest would have likely been one of the favorites to win the National Championship and Chris Paul could have really cemented his legacy as a great college player. Also, I know that he wants to graduate and that he promised his dying grandfather that he would. He was on a three-year graduation plan, so if he stayed one more year, he would have graduated. Anyway, I hope he goes to a team like Charlotte or New Orleans. I'd hate to see him end up as a Hawk.
Yeah if I were him I wouldn't sign an agent, and just see how high I get drafted. I think he will most definitely be a top 8 pick, but if he waits until next season he will be top 2. He is a great player, and an even better leader. He just needs to develop a little more.
He should be a lottery pick easy, but another year in college could've really helped his draft stock for the 2006 draft.

If he is looking at money, they are almost the same. Maybe he may want to stay another year, go far in March Madness, and be the number one pick. But too much to risk there, one injury can cost a guy three million dollars.
