What are good Christmas presents to buy nowadays?

anything notable you guys are buying that are unique?

So far, probably buying a bunch of gift cards for people. aunts and uncles...who knows...they are the hardest to buy for. Any interesting portland-esque crap?

probably going to buy my dad an Amazon kindle. dunno what to get mom right now. maybe a digital photo frame.

    halp!

I never really buy anything for aunts and uncles in my family unless they're close.

I haven't thought much about what I'm going to get my family. I may be getting my dad a Redskins jersey (he lives in England so they go apeshit for that sort of thing). My mum wants something from Nordstrom so I'll have a look around there -- maybe perfume. My sister is going to be the hardest to find something for, followed closely by my Grandma.

Any ideas for a 6-year-old and an old person?

Just re-wrap something they already have in their house. They will probably forget that they had it and will be a good gift since they at one time liked it enough to buy it once.

I re-wrap gifts that my wife asked for and did not use in previous years. She loves when I do that.

That said, I'm getting a Citizen solar powered watch for the wife. She hates it when the battery dies.

My father-in-law is a vegetarian who loves Indian food, and I make a mean channa masala. So I'm whipping together about 12 servings for his freezer.

For the kids I think I'll do a candy-a-week thing my wife and I have done for years. I'll probably add math problems and spanish words on the candy labels.

Still have to think of something for mother-in-law. I owe her big time, and I don't want to just buy something....

like ironic books like "Stuff White People Like" or "Awkward Family Portraits". Basically anything you would find at Urban Outfitters.

Yes, that is an excellent way to reduce the number of people you have to buy presents for. Just be sure to bury them far, far, away from the road, otherwise they'll be inevitably be dug up, at the most inconvenient time.
