In Blinebury's writeup about Battier's injury news (here), Morey said something interesting: That's the first I've heard from anyone with the Rockets about whether Ron may start or come off the bench. Not sure if Morey is suggesting that things are different now that Battier will miss preseason.
Ron Ron would be a great asset to have coming off the bench. With that said, if Battier is still semi-injured some season start, I would have to give the start to Ron.
