NC state has officially fired chuck amato. Yeah yeah, no one outside of the carolina's cares, right?Well here's where it gets interesting. Reports out of raleigh say that Bill Cowher is #1 on the Pack's coaching search list. Cowher is an NC state alumnist and recently bought a house in raleigh plus cowher turned down a 6.5 million dollar offer to coach with the steelers again. Cowher's daughter is attending NC state as a freshman this year... Interesting interesting. Could this mean what I think it means? Thoughts? Right behind cowher is former NC state offensive coordinator Norm Chow.

Cowher will coach somewhere else in the NFL. He is not a college coach in my eyes.

Id be suprised to see him move to College ball honestly.

If he weren't a head coach in the NFL I'd say it was possible, but usually college head coaches try their hardest at the college level so they can strike an NFL head coach deal... Cowher doesn't need to. We'll see where this goes, but for him I think it's pros or nothing.

Since then we've upgraded all of our facilities and the stadium looks freakin awesome. He loves raleigh. I've seen him when i've been over at local school ravenscroft plenty of times at football games. This would be the perfect year for him to leave- down year for steelers, they have another coach in the wings waiting, new house in Raleigh, no sense of him "stealing the job" at state. It's just all adding up to me for some reason. I may be completely wrong but I just see a line of events that would point to him making the move to college. Either way whatever we get should be better than amato. [IMG]

We're now on the national scene with first round/top10 picks and a high caliber coach could make us an upper tier program for the future. Look at the facilites now compared to when he first came... He was a strange personality. He wore oakley's at every game, red shoes, has a huge chest, barely has a voice ... Chuck the Chest gets a salute from me.

PITTSBURGH -- Bill Cowher is not interested in coaching alma mater North Carolina State, even though the Super Bowl-winning Pittsburgh Steelers coach has only one season left on his contract.Cowher, a former NC State linebacker, has seen his name mentioned prominently in speculation since Wolfpack coach Chuck Amato was fired last weekend.Asked if he had any interest in going back to his former school, Cowher said, "No.""I've been getting a lot of contacts about it; I've heard about it," Cowher said Wednesday. "But I've got a job here."Cowher and his family bought a luxury home in Raleigh less than a year ago, adding to the rumors he might be ready to leave Pittsburgh. Cowher's wife and youngest daughter are living in Raleigh this season, while his other two daughters are attending Princeton University."I'm very flattered to hear some of the things that have been coming out, but I'm not a candidate," Cowher said. "I have a job here and my focus really is on this job right here, so you can take me off the list."
