on Chauncey: "He's a very blunt person. He's very honest, we've already had a lot of conversations about what it will take on the defensive end. I've spoken to him about holding me and Dame accountable and that he's got to challenge us. We'll always be top 3 top 5 on offense but the only way for us to improve is to get dedicated on defensive end."
Of course Dame's going to be all in. Wherever he is he's going to be all in. He's not going to pull some Harden shit and play half ass. He's trying to win a championship here. Now, if he looks around and doesn't think that's possible, I think he'd still ask for a trade and keep playing like he's all it until he's traded. I don't think what CJ has said is news, this is how I'd expect Dame to be in this situation.
Sure, could happen eventually. I just don't think he'll look around by mid season and demand a trade, he'll give it some time, plus he's under contract. He's already look around and said they are not contenders with this roster, and if he thought the org wouldn't be able to make it happen, he would have asked out now, imo.
Unless as some writers have suggested he told Chauncey that he'd give him a shot at proving Dame wrong about the roster. The same writers think that he'll give this team some run and if no changes are made and we're losing to all of the good teams, then he'll ask out before the trade deadline but those are just some writers speculating. They're take on it is worth no more than yours. I actually think there will be a major move made between now and training camp and it will involve CJ but that might just be me being hopeful.
if dame doesnt ask for a trade before the season starts, hell finish the season with the blazers...surely, hed love to play entire season with the new team and get familiar with the system etc, before the playoffs its not chip or bust for the blazers next season, but theyre gonna need to show something in order for dame to say: "okay, theres potential in here, were gonna keep working"
Yeah, Im thinking if the right deal for CJ is there Neil will pull the trigger, but not for another small forward or guard.
If Dame wanted out, why was he involved in the coaching hire? Like, some of y'all just need to get off of it. Your hate for CJ is clouding your rational minds and your love for Dame is clouding your view of whether or not he wants to stay when he's given ALL indication that he does. Take a deep breath...
Not “ALL indication.” That was his stance a year ago but last month, he said “I have not made a firm decision about my future.” That is why there is concern.
Well, to be fair. We haven't heard Dame say he is all in so really there's nothing to confirm. It could be an interpretation that he got from Dame. And this is coming from someone who wants so badly for him to be all in. I just am a bit skeptical if it isn't coming from Dame himself, especially given his comments last month.
that’s his best friend who he’s around more than his own family. I’m pretty sure you can take it to the bank if he’s saying it. It’s a safe bet. This is my personal opinion, but I also don’t think Dame is the type that would ask for a trade in the middle of a season. He’ll see how the year goes and then reassess next summer.
Maybe for this year. If we get bounced in the first are you convinced he isn't gonna be saying the same shit next year not fully committing to us? I'm not.
Lots of people not taking Dame for his word this summer. I suppose it's possible he wasn't being honest, but it would be odd for him to pubically come out and lie he didn't think the coaching change alone would be enough when he actually would be statisfied by no significant roster moves being made.
This seems far more likely to me as well. If he demands a trade right now, I'm not even sure he'd like the situation(s) he would likely land in. Trading Dame will be very tricky for both parties, if it ever happens... lets hope it doesn't!
