Americans are horribly violent people. Were all those mass-stabbings with multiple fatalities?

Yeah, I wonder how many people die from gunshots vs every other homicide? Oh it's more than twice as many. 11,078 compared to 5,181.

I wonder how many violent crimes were reported in that same year? 1.2 million? WOW that's a lot of people not dying.

The second one referenced was in New York. Taj Gibson's nephew was the boy killed. Playing in the park, went upstairs to get an icee and some guy stabbed them both. The other lived....I believe. They think it's related to a similar incident a week earlier

My oldest son had a knife pulled on him in a poor part of Houston on day at a mall.

That's because police don't ever use knives and most successful acts of self defense are accomplished with a gun.

All murders have one common denominator and only one.

The murderers are fucked up in the head.

Treating/preventing mental illness is the ONLY possible way to prevent murders.

Anyone who suggests otherwise is a liar who has a personal/political/professional agenda, or an imbecile who lives in a tiny room in his mother's basement.

See, this is what I mean by lying.

Those numbers are 4 years old, and include thousands of justifiable homicides by police defending themselves or citizens defending themselves. Usually against someone who is armed with some weapon other than a gun. Every year guns are used over 1, 000, 000 times successfully for self defense. About 99% of the time nobody dies.

I'm glad I waited to read the whole thread before I responded to East. Now I don't need to.

The recent murders by the woman-hater involved:

3 murders by knife, all 3 were fatalities, no survivors.
2 attempted murders by car, 0 fatalities, 2 survivors.
11 attempted murders by gun, 3 were fatalities, 8 survivors.

I think you should take a deeper look:

One "trait" that has not yet attracted as much attention is the gender difference: nearly all school shootings are perpetrated by young males, and in some instances the violence has clearly been gender-specific. Bob Herbert addressed this in an October 2006 New York Times editorial. However, at least three female school shooting incidents have been documented, including Laurie Dann of Winnetka, Illinois.

According to Keith Darling-Brekhus, "Since 1982 almost all school shootings have been perpetrated by white males." These shootings have happened in "suburban and rural school districts" and many seem to be random with random targets

A shooting target mannequin named the "The Ex," a large-breasted woman who bleeds when shot, is being sold on Amazon.com. It's manufactured by Zombie Industries, a company that was featured at the NRA convention last weekend.

Clearly we need to ban carving knives. If one life would be saved, it's worth it. 5,000 is a shockingly high number. People are violent by nature.

No, they are actually quite docile. Violent people are a rare exception, not the rule.

Mental illness is a broad stroke. Down syndrome, ADHD, Bi-Polar, OCD are all mental illnesses.

I would think about letting someone with OLD have a gun, but probably wouldn't happen. The others? No way. Lucky for them it isn't up to me.
