CLEMSON, South Carolina (Ticker) - No. 21 Clemson aims to remain unbeaten when its faces Georgia on Thursday.

Clemson is one of the four unbeaten teams in Division I. In their last contest, the Tigers matched the second-best start in school history. The 1986-87 team started at 17-0.

K.C. Rivers came off the bench to hit 6-of-9 shots from the arc and score a career-high 24 points as the Tigers rolled to a 103-60 victory over Western Carolina on Saturday. James Mays scored all 14 of his points in the first half, when the Tigers built a 44-29 lead. Rivers scored 14 points in the second half.

Leading the Bulldogs in scoring, Mike Mercer had a nightmare game in Georgia's last contest - a 78-69 loss to rival Georgia Tech on Friday. Mercer, who averaged 18.1 points per game entering the contest, scored just nine - all on free throws - and went 0-of-11 from the field.

The Bulldogs lead the all-time series, 55-23.</div>

Clemson will be out of the national spotlight as quickly as they entered it. The fact that they're ranked nationally makes me sick. Who would vote for them? Yes, they're undefeated, but who have they beaten? Nobody. It's not like they have the talent like UConn either. Hell, their leading scorer is K.C. Rivers.

They may not lose tonight, because Georgia isn't exactly a powerhouse, but they've got a hell of an ACC stretch coming up. I can see them realistically not winning a game in ACC play. At this point, they're their weakest link.

I definitely see Georgia winning this one - I think they're a pretty underrated team, with all those good young guards. I know the Badgers have to travel to Athens pretty soon too, and that game makes me nervous. I think we'll learn a lot about both teams tonight. Clemson has a lot of wins against subpar opponents, while Georgia is looking like an up-and-coming NCAA team with a win over Zaga. If Georgia wins this one convincingly, I think they'll be a real threat to Wisconsin and many other teams this year, at least at home.

I didn't watch the game but it looks like Clemson beat Georgia pretty handily.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Freshman Trevor Booker had 14 points and Vernon Hamilton finished with 13 to help No. 25 Clemson beat Georgia 75-60 Thursday night to remain undefeated.

The Tigers (13-0) are off to their best start since the 1996-97 team coached by Rick Barnes started 17-0 and rose to No. 2 in the country.

And this time, Clemson succeeded without big contributions from their two leading scorers, K.C. Rivers and James Mays. The pair had averaged nearly 28 points a game this season, but were held to 22 combined against the Bulldogs (8-3).

Booker and Hamilton stepped in to carry the Tigers.

After Dave Bliss' inside shot brought Georgia within four, Hamilton started a decisive 13-3 run with a 3-pointer. Booker and Sam Perry followed with baskets and Hamilton broke ahead of the pack for a layin. Two minutes later, Hamilton closed the stretch with bucket and the Tigers led 47-33.

Georgia closed to 62-55 with 3:34 to go on Terrance Woodbury's fourth 3-pointer. But Clemson outscored the Bulldogs 13-5 the rest of the way for its second-best opening in school history.

The Bulldogs lost their second straight after winning seven in a row. Leading scorer Mike Mercer struggled with his shot for the second consecutive game . He went 6-for-13 to finish with 13 points after going 0-of-10 from the field in a loss to Georgia Tech.

Rivers finished 13 points and Mays had nine for Clemson.</div>
