The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to a two-year, $5 million contract with Cliff Pennington, avoiding salary arbitration with the veteran shortstop, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

Arizona acquired Pennington and minor league infielder Yordy Cabrera from the Oakland Athletics for outfielder Chris Young and cash on Oct. 20.
