Won't Camara be behind Flagg in the rotation?

See, this is where I disagree. He'll actually be useful against every team. This isn't some Kaiju battle (cue Cling Kong references) where it's just one giant battling another. Clingan is so valuable because he plays defense against the entire opposing team. That's why centers should always win DPOY no matter how good a perimeter defender is. This is what people who saw Edey score like 36 on Clingan in the NCAA final fail to get (same with the people who just note how much Jokic scores on Gobert when they play) - his primary role is not just to defend the biggest guy on the other team.

Early one he will take at most 2-3 3's per game. If he hits 1 of 3 Im cool with that. If he goes 0 for 3 no big deal.

Of course. And of course Minnesota's bold vision to get even bigger inspires an Edwards for Ayton swap further changing the starting lineup, but I'm still looking forward to seeing Clingan Deni & Camara spend some quality time together on the court

btw, it's preseason hoops with all it's importance so why in the world shouldn't Clingan be letting fly from the perimeter? It would be great if he develops that into an efficient weapon

If he's only hitting 1 for 3 there is no reason to have him out there. He's better off working his inside game.

Im sure he will spend most of his time inside. He knows where his strengths are and how he can contribute to winning. We will have to many other guys throwing up threes anyway.

1 for 3 from 3 is 50% at the basket. Let it fly, big man!

The only reason I would say to at least bring them to camp (besides their guaranteed contracts) is that they look so bad because they're being asked to do things out of their wheelhouse because the supporting cast is so bad. When they're surrounded by better players their still-very-good defense will be what matters. But yes, their complete shooting ineptitude is dispiriting.

A big man should hit a higher percentage than 50% from inside.

But really i should have said if he's shooting 0 to 1 for 3 from 3pt range.

If you don't EXPECT him to be between 1-3 and 2-3 he probably shouldn't even be out there.

Sounds like the forum has had a change of heart. You actually don't need a gazzel who can guard the perimeter and shoot 3 pointers at center...

Now imagine how excited you'd be about Clingan if he also had a good offensive game.

You also don't draw fouls on 3pt shots. 50% sucks in the modern NBA.

And if your best rebounder is out jacking threes he's not inside getting rebounds.

He should honestly probably be shooting 38% to 40% in competitive drills before they even consider having him out there.

It would be nice if he could guard a big on the perimeter though.

I would rather have him work on short and midrange shots than 3s. He will never be a good long ball shooter. He should make 60% of his short range shots

Only 4 centers in the league shot above what would equate to a 55% TS (which is below average efficiency), and they are all on the Timberwolves and Celtics. It sucks when someone goes off on you, but if opposing teams want to have their center jack up 3s against us, we'll win that more often than not.

I think the main thing for him now is to become a better FT shooter.

The Blazers were last in three point percentage for the season at 34.5%.
Thats what makes us a legit shitty team w/o tanking.
Shoot the there Block Lobster as we are indeed tanking. Great time to develop as part of your arsenal.

Like weeks ago before the draft, everyone is acting like they figured it out about Clingan. Too slow. Won't be a great shot blocker. No passing ability. Sit back and enjoy the process of his development.

We got a really good one here.

    Last game tonight.
Im actually expecting his best game yet. It seems he has improved every game snd im loving what be bring to the court.
He is actually quicker than he looks. He has great instincts which gives him that fast first step or lean. I think it makes up for his slower “Prodding” some seem to be concerned about and when he plays with real pga that understand the importance of his involvement? I see good things in the future.
