"It's L.A. Of course, there had to be a car involved. It's the Clippers. You'd better believe there were some fidgety management types at Staples Center on Saturday night. But Blake Griffin had sold them on it with perhaps the best pitch since Cal Worthington was in his prime. Jump over a car with the Crenshaw Elite Choir singing "I Believe I Can Fly" at midcourt and Baron Davis popping out of the sunroof to provide the pass leading to a two-hand slam on the last chance in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest? Preposterous maybe, but now that word will have to wait 'til next year. "We'll see," Griffin said after fans texted their votes to assure him of his victory over Washington's JaVale McGee. "I have to come up with something else, maybe a boat next year." What could McGee possibly do with his final dunk? "Definitely he came prepared with the car," a resigned McGee said. "And nothing's going to beat the car unless I bring out a plane or something.""
