The Houston Rockets have reached an agreement on a trade for LA Clippers All-Star point guard Chris Paul, sources told ESPN. The Rockets will send Sam Dekker, Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams and a top-three protected 2018 first-round pick to the Clippers in exchange for Paul. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19758509/la-clippers-trade-chris-paul-houston-rockets
Damn you Olshey! The Blazers could've done better! dot dot dot I think it just shows that superstars are not traded for other superstars (granted, Paul is a bit old).
Already being discussed. http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/merged-around-the-nba-offseason-edition.316108/page-23
First off do we really need Paul? Second, he had the option to opt out of his contract, we could have put together a deal but if Paul did not desire to come here, he wouldn't opt in like he did to go with the Rockets. People don't understand, players in the NBA have way more say than the actual teams a lot of times.
Boy, I'll bet Jordan is happy about having been talked into coming back to the Clippers. Harden and Paul is going to be an amazing backcourt.
He wasn't saying why couldn't we have gotten Paul, he's saying why can't we make a play for another good player. I agree with your second point, however. This deal only gets done because Paul is willing to re-sign with the Rockets.
What a shit show the clippers are. There's gotta be a documentary about how much of a flop that team has been.
The most disappointing part of this is it means no FEEC for Pat Bev trade. Fuck HOU. They seem to always land late career superstars, but still fail in the payoffs. Let's hope CP3 to HOU is D12 The Sequel. BNM
How many good players are available for trade? CP3 wasn't really traded - he essentially signed as a FA with HOU, even though technically the mechanism involves a trade. Butler was traded for type of assets we don't have. Paul George is a huge risk to bolt, so giving up good assets for a rental would be a mighty big gamble, and one we'd probably lose. Also, we traded for Nurkic, who looked to be everything we could possibly want - so, we have traded for a good player. I think our next best shot at trading for a good player will come during the season.
Another example of a star being traded for scraps. Posters always give others a hard time for trade proposals, but more often than not there are clear winners when big names are traded. That being said, I have my doubts as to whether this will work out for them.
