Serie A sides move in for Celtic loan star Georgios Samaras

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>SERIE A sides Lazio and Lecce are trying to pinch hitman Georgios Samaras from under the noses of Celtic.

But keeper Artur Boruc has admitted his s15million price tag will scare off potential buyers and keep him at Parkhead.

Celtic have yet to decide whether to make Samaras' loan switch permanent despite agreeing a s3m fee with Manchester City.

But the two Italian top-flight sides chasing the Greece striker have already started talks.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito said: "Samaras is a player we're considering and we'll see what happens. I can confirm we're actively trying to sign a striker and hope to secure a deal for one any day soon."

Lecce were even more definite in admitting their interest in the player who scored five times for Celtic last term after his January transfer window move.

A club insider said: "Samaras would be a good signing for us if we can get him. It all depends on how much he'll cost from Manchester City and what he demands in wages.

"The next few days will see a development in the situation."

Hoops manager Gordon Strachan is on holiday but has in his favour the fact Samaras seemed to enjoy being at Celtic as much as the fans warmed to him.

Working against Strachan is the speed with which the Italian clubs have moved following Samaras' return home from Euro 2008.

Meanwhile, Pole Boruc - hailed as the best keeper in the world by BBC pundit Alan Shearer during their coverage of the finals - insists he is unaware of any other clubs being after him.</div>

I believe Lecce will land him. The reason why? They've always been able to land great players in the past like Marco Amelia, Mirko Vučinić, Valeri Bojinov, Javier Chevantón, Alexei Eremenko, Cristiano Lucarelli and Marco Cassetti to name a few. I think they're back in Serie A to stay this time. They've considered one of the best late-season-fighting clubs in the World today.

Good chance of staying in Seria A.

I'm surprised that Lazio hasn't made any big signings yet.

Considering that Lazio are still on the edge of bankruptcy, it doesn't surprise me at all. Lecce is a far better club to go to right now because they have a great knack for taking good talents and turning them into premier ones. Plus the fact that they seem the most prepared of any of the three newly promoted Serie B clubs to make a decent run next season in Serie A. I've always loved Lecce.

Do you see any team snatching Pandev or Rocchi from the team? That would suck for Lazio.

Possibly Pandev, but he mentioned that he's not interested in leaving despite the fact that Lazio stated that they'd listen to offers.

They better keep them if they want to remain in Seria A.
