    * The team is playing great

    * KP says 'let it bake'

    * Winning teams rarely make mid-season trades

    * Team chemistry is excellent

    * No OBVIOUS holes

    * Martell coming back soon hopefully

    * Raef's contract still valuable this summer

    * My inside source - the usher in my aisle - says she overheard KP's secretary talking to her friend and she says she heard something like "no trades" (but it could have been "nice shades" or "Ruben Kincaid"). She says there is a 65% chance of no trades.

    The odds are you are right. However, there are several top teams contending right now who might get desperate at the deadline for one of our PGs or instant offense off their bench (Travis). If they are willing to overpay, I'm sure KP will help them out.

    Tell that to Gasol.

    Starting PG and SF are obvious holes.

    Don't count on Martell until March or later.

    Doesn't Raef' contract come off the books at the end of the season? Thus we would have to resign him to trade him?

    I didn't say they NEVER make mid-season trades, and we dont need 5 all stars starting. We could also let Raef's contract expire and use the capspace if I am not mistaken.

    I don't see the real pressing need to rush a trade. While cap space is great, if things are going well, why mess it up. Imaginary cap space.

    you mean the cap space freed when he expires might be of some use. obviously his contract is worthless after Feb 19.

    I'm fine with no trades, if that's what KP thinks is best. I do worry that chemistry will suffer when Martell comes back, and minutes at SF will be hard to come by. But what do you do.

    Travis is Bradon's bud. Trading him could affect chemistry. Sergio is Rudy's bud. Trading him gives away Rudy's highlight plays, and could affect chemistry. Do nothing, and there are few minutes at the swing spots when Webs comes back, and Rudy may have fewer minutes. That could affect chemistry.

    What to do?

    Actually much of what you say is wrong. About the only thing right is KP saying "Let it Bake" a lot.

    No Obvious holes? SF is a huge hole still. We have no idea if martell will actually make it back this season, my money is on "No". Teams that are looking for that final piece make trades all the time to add talent during the latter part of the season. Paul Gasol for the Lakers is one. Miami traded for Antawn Walker a few years ago to add him into the mix and give them 3 point shooting. Detroit had made mid season trades a couple of times over the years to bring in players like Rasheed Wallace, which if I remember right, was the final piece to lead them to the finals that year and the next.

    Inside source being usher in the isle? Is the usher in the isle much more dependable than the snow cone guy as a source, or maybe the corn dog vendor? :pimp:

    geez for the 10,000th time...

    if Portland lets RLEC come off their own cap and they renounce Frye and Ike they'll have about 7-8M in capspace this next offseason. This could be utilized to sign a FA or facilitate an imbalanced trade from a financial standpoint. To explain this further, they could hypothetically trade the rights to Nedzad for a guy making 7M. If they also renounce Blake and/or Outlaw they'll have that much more capspace to play with in the same manner.
