LA Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy Sr.

On whether he ever called the Warriors to negotiate a trade for his son ...

"I've always messed around with the idea. But he's happy there, the Golden State Warriors really like him and Mullie (GM Chris Mullin) loves him.
"A reporter came to me one time and said, 'You know what, they may look to trade Mike. They're unhappy with him.' I said, 'Really? Do you have a good source?' He said, 'I have a great source.' I said, 'Tell him to call me.' That's pretty much where it ended. They never called me."

One thing I love about coach Dunleavy is that he emphasizes sharing the ball and making free throws. I think it would be pretty cool to have him as coach, but I think Montgomery will be just as good in his own way. It's too bad he was never an NBA player because Dunleavy Sr. was pretty darn good in his day.
