If Phatty Phil Daddy doesn't sign on to be the Lakers coach next year, and the Lakers don't manage to get another High Profile coach... would Hamblen get a shot at an entire year? I'm thinking that's not the case...but was just curious what the Laker Faithful had to say.

I don't think so, he hasn't done a good job with the squad, granted we started changing offenses when he took over.

I would like either Silas, Saunders, or Jackson here.

    How about Saunders?
He should know well about the Lakers after all those games he had to play against the Lakers

Hamblen has already said he does not want to be the head coach, he prefers just being on the bench.

Off topic: Isn't it amazing how similar Hamblen's voice is to PJax?

There are lot of coaching canidates available. Phil Jackson has to be on the top of the list. He knows Kobe's game the best and how to challenge him. He will also know which players Kobe needs to make him more efficient and effective.

Flip Saunders would be a good choice, but I don't think he'll be interested in the job. I think Cleveland or New York lands him.

If we cannot get either of those players I think the Lakers should try to grab a young, up and coming coach. I really like Musselman and Bzedlik or one of the young college coaches like Bill Self (Tulsa) or Billy Donovan (Florida).

A young, up and coming coach does sound pretty good, but i would still prefer a high caliber type coach (Phil,Brown, etc.) that will command immediate respect. I may be wrong, but i just get the feeling that the Lakers are just not responding to Hamblen because he doesn't have the credentials needed in order to get the players respect.

Yeah good point on the players not responding to Hamblen. He's been a broken record since he took over the Lakers. No matter how much he emphasizes playing defense and stop shooting 3pointers, the players are not listening. This Laker team just doesn't have much pride and the way they are playing to end the season is disheartening. The Lakers need to try and finish strong to build some momentum and give the fans something to look forward to for next season. Right now they are convincing me they will be the doormat in the Pacific Division next season.

As for Hamblen's credentials, the guy has plenty of coaching success. If the players cannot respect him, then I don't have much hope for the next guy stepping in.

O.J. Mayo is entering draft in 2 years keep Hamblem till then j/p

Get Mo Cheeks im sure he would fill in that job and he's a player coach so he'd get respect

PHIL i lost all respect for phil when he wrote a book during the postseason bashing his own team.
