Johnny Ludden of the San Antonio Express-News reports that Spurs coach Gregg Popovich will win the NBA's Coach of the Year award.

Popovich will become the first Spurs coach in franchise history to be give the honor beating out the likes of Jerry Sloan, Hubie Brown, and Eric Musselman.

Popovich led the Spurs to a 60-22 record, tied for tops in the league with Dallas. The Spurs went 41-9 since January first and won 18 of their last 20 road games.

NO WAY does Popovich deserve coach of the year. This is a joke! I think the award should go to Rick Carlisle for his success with Detroit. He proved his team was not a one year fluke and the Pistons won the top seed in the East. Popovich is a horrible coach! I would even give the award to the Warriors head coach over Popovich. And how about Flip Saunders he had a great season, too despite several injuries.

San Antonio had a great year, there isnt much depth in the roster, therefore he does deserve it.

shape your going too far. even if u dont think he deserved thee award calling him a horrible coach is ridiculously harsh. a horrible coach wouldnt have taken a team with youngsters filling in so many minuites to the best record in the NBA even with tim duncan. key example: orlando magic

sorry the guy is a class A jerk. he takes his military background image too, far and he has never out coached anyone. he is fortunate to have a great management team to build around TD & D-Rob. he is a horrible coach, look at the pathetic job of coaching he did in the olympics. popovich is a DICKtator not a coach.

With what he has on that team... it isn't such a surprise how well his team did..so no he doesn't deserve it either.
