Palm Beach Post <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NASHVILLE ? Here we go again. Just as it happened at this time last season Heat coach Stan Van Gundy is concerned things aren't coming together fast enough, particularly on offense. "We have a long, long, long way to go," Van Gundy said. And just as it happened last season, center Shaquille O'Neal is saying everything will be OK. "Am I concerned?" O'Neal asked. "No, I'm not concerned at all. We've just got to get to know each other just keep fighting and just keep playing." Most likely O'Neal and Van Gundy are both right. One of the main offensive issues the Heat is trying to solve is how to get the complementary players ? forwards Udonis Haslem and James Posey and point guard Jason Williams ? to mesh with the two players who need the ball, O'Neal and guard Dwyane Wade. Wade isn't handling the ball as much as the previous two seasons and it's affected his game. Last season he got the ball from point guard Damon Jones, a facilitator who didn't handle the ball much, and Wade had the room and time to put it on the floor and create a shot. Now, in an effort to accommodate Williams, whose strength is ball-handling, Wade is running off screens on the wing and getting the ball and shooting. "I'm used to having the ball in my hands," said Wade, who still averages 16 points per game, "so it's just an adjustment we have to make while we play these (remaining three exhibition) games." In Saturday's 87-66 loss at Detroit, Wade (10 points on 4-for-11 shooting) was also chasing energetic Detroit guard Rip Hamilton on the defense. O'Neal thinks that might have affected Wade's offense. "We can't expect him to chase the other team's best guard and then come down and make shots, so hopefully we'll make some adjustments that way," he said. Nobody is pointing fingers among the Heat, unless they're pointing them at themselves. That includes Van Gundy, who said the only effective form of offense against Detroit was throwing it to O'Neal. "I didn't see one other game that got us going at all and that's my responsibility," he said. "I've got to find something else. And we've got to find a way to get some of our shooters shots, and they've got to knock them in."</div> Source
