First they took a bite of the Orange in the Big Apple. Now the Gators have chomped their way into the middle of the Top 25.

On the strength of their 2K Sports College Hoops Classic title win and victories over Wake Forest and Syracuse, Florida (4-0) went from unranked in the preseason ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll to No. 15 this week -- by far the largest jump of the early season.

Duke remained a nearly unanimous No. 1, garnering 29 of a possible 31 first-place votes after dispatching Boston University, Seton Hall (both in the NIT Season Tip-Off) and Davidson at Cameron Indoor.

Texas, on the strength of two dominant performances in the Guardians Classic opening rounds, moved past Connecticut to take over the No. 2 spot. Oklahoma moved into the top five, replacing Michigan State, which dropped to No. 12 after a 22-point loss at Hawaii to open the season.

Other movers included West Virginia (up two to No. 13), Illinois (up three to No. 14) and Iowa (up three to No. 14). Alabama dropped four spots to No. 18 after falling at home to Memphis in the second round of the Tip-Off.

Despite winning its opener, Nevada dropped out of this week's poll.</div>

We should easily be top 10 in a couple of weeks, considering our very weak non conference schedule. If we have more than 1 loss entering SEC play I'm going to be very disappointed. The only challenge is at Miami(FL), but they are all guard play with Diaz and Harris and we did great against Gray and McNamara, so we should still be able to win that game. We moved up 24 spots(I believe I counted out us at 39th in the preseason rankings).

Nice jump for the Gators, I was really shocked to see Stanford still in the top 25 after getting blown out by UC Irvine.
