With the firing of Flip Saunders, the TWolves will be in search of another high profile head coach to step in and pick up the pieces. Some of the names the TWolves might consider along with Pros & Cons.

Kevin McHale - He's the current interim coach, stepping in for Flip Saunders.

    Cons
    - McHale has enough responsibilities as the GM
    - McHale is impatient and doesn't have much coaching experience to begin with

    Pros
    - McHale is a great teacher of the game
    - McHale is a proven winner and has more influence over players because he is also the acting GM

    Phil Jackson

    Cons
    - Can the TWolves afford him and get the players Phil wants?
    - Can KG function within the triangle offense?

    Pros
    - Phil wins championships and is the master of controlling egos
    - Phil will challenge this team, and KG is the type of person who steps up to challenges

    Eric Musselman

    Cons
    - He has an edge to him, a lot of prima donna players can't adjust to
    - Limited headcoaching experience

    Pros
    - He's a young, energized coach, who gets the most out of players. Him and KG should be able to feed off each other.
    - Musselman is not afraid to play his veterans and bench players not performing to his standards.
    - His dad was the original head coach of the TWolves

    Sam Mitchell

    Cons
    - Hasn't exactly had the greatest time coaching in Toronto
    - How will he deal with all the star egos on the TWolves?

    Pros
    - Great relationship with KG
    - Former player and a fan favorite

Phil Jackson coming to Minny is slim to non, honestly. I dont think Phil Jackson would be interested in such a small market team. Also you brought up an excellent point the triangle offense would not bring the best out of KG's game. It will make him become a very stationary player, playing alot with his back to the basket which is in my opinion the worst part of KG's game.

Anyway, I think Sam Mitchell is strong candiate, he seems like a no non sense head coach in Toronto, that might not go well with Sprewell & Sammy but I doubt they be there next year. So the rest of those guys can use the structure and probably be willing to listen.

How about Donn Nelsen? it doesnt look like he will take over the Dallas job from his father since Avery Johnson is there. And he can bring some fresh concepts to the twolves organization.

My three coaching candidates are either:
    1) Nate MacMillan
    2) Eric Musselman
    3) Rick Adelman

Donn Nelson is an interesting choice, Henacy. I wouldn't mind him either if he is interested.

Other candidates should not apply. I want a polished veteran coach that has experienced in winning games.

Forget Phil and Larry. They ain't coming here. Glen Taylor is not going to pay 11 million a year for either of them and neither should he especially with Larry wanting to leave after a year or two.

My guy says that the Timberwolves will go for the safe pick and chose Eric Musselman to coach the team next year.
