<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bryan Colangelo is on the road and Wayne Embry's on the road and Jim Kelly is bouncing around gyms all over the United States this weekend and every other scout worth his Marriott Rewards card is somewhere watching college games.

If this is March Madness, the big NBA story is who will emerge as top draft picks in June. All eyes this weekend are on Salt Lake City, where Gonzaga and Adam Morrison are playing; Dallas, where LaMarcus Aldridge and Texas are in action; and Philadelphia, where Connecticut is playing and everyone is watching Rudy Gay.

And as sure as there will be some dramatic buzzer beaters in the tournament ? think all those folks who had Boston College in the Final Four were sweating yesterday afternoon ? someone will start comparing these kids to some former NBA great, like Morrison and Larry Bird.

Nothing ticks off Raptors coach Sam Mitchell more than that.

"He hasn't even played a summer league game and people are comparing him to Larry Bird? Come on," Mitchell said yesterday.

Morrison, Aldridge, Gay and, perhaps, Duke's J.J. Redick, are seen as the cream of the North American crop this spring and how they do in the NCAA tournament will go along way to keeping them there before draft time rolls around in June.

Good general managers know that individual workouts are not the best measuring stick. Intense games against good competition separates top picks from mid-level ones and how those four play in the next three weekends will have an impact on who the Raptors get to take when they choose in June.</div>
