...don't know why the hell he's complaining...I'd like to see more and more players do what Rasmus did...especially a few of the Yanx hitters.

...I can't speak for everyone, but as for myself, I'm pretty sick of this "shift" thing...and it's only used because some players are too damned stubborn to lay down a bunt or slap the ball the other way for a gimme hit...top o' the cap to Rasmus.

Ah well when it rains it pours and Texas has experienced flash floods all season long. The way I see it you score any way you can, every time you can, thinking that no lead is safe and play for the win.

I realize Texas is having a nightmare season but this just makes no sense. If you can get on base you do so.

...and that's what irritates me the most...I mean they are essentially GIVING you a hit but some are too stubborn and wrapped up in their power stats to take it.

2 run lead? There is no baseball etiquette when the game is in doubt. Up 10 runs, maybe. Another pampered moron.

I agree, I mean its a gift hit. And besides the guy is hitting like 225. With that average you'll take anything you can get.

I'm tired of the over utilization of the shift....

More disgusted by Mgr's., coaches, players, effing complaining when a batter, takes advantage of the shift, laying down a bunt to the exposed side of the field....WTF would anyone expect, when a team gives you an empty sided field?

I'd lay down a bunt every frickin time too, if I couldn't hit the ball the opposite way.

The nerve of these morons, to complain, as if its cheating to bunt during a shift. Only keeping the over shifting defensive BS in check with a neutralizing offensive move of their own.

What's becoming of the mentality of players these days, Mgrs too....as if there's an un-written rule; you can't bunt with a shift on.....!

Ban the shift....!!! Ted Williams retired along time ago....!

During mid-late 60s I often heard it called "The McCovey shift? because they shifted him every time he was up. Today its just ridiculous when you see managers putting it on for guys barely hitting 200.

Yep, its become downright a foolish move in many cases, most IMO...

Makes one admire guys like Carew, Gwynn, Donnie BB, Brett, Jeter, any and every player who can hit the ball the opposite way, or pull and turn on it, or simply hit the ball where its pitched....

Pull happy hitters may be suffering, yet Williams, even McCovey seemed to still get more than their share of hits....."hit 'em where they ain't", or hit it out of the park...!

I'd like to see Ichiro turn on more inside pitches, park a few now and then. Why he doesn't, perhaps he doesn't want to raise his strike outs, or is so ingrained to hit for average.....??? I've heard he can put on a BP HR show....!

Colby Lewis should be happy he isn't pitching 50 or so years ago when most teams had one or two players who liked to drop a bunt or two down......the bunt (single) is a lost art. Looking at most of these pitchers today- well lets just say they aren't the most graceful fielders and appear more like pitching robots than BALL PLAYERS.... this includes NL pitchers who continue to make a good case for the D.H. lmao

A good many of these pitchers are big slugs who would trip over their feet or make a bad throw half the time if they had to field a couple of good bunts.
