While World Series betting is all the rage right now, the BCS just released their first standings of the year, and Oklahoma leads the way followed by Oregon, Boise State, Auburn and TCU. Without any of the computer rankings, here’s who we think will end up in the BCS bowls, although there’s still plenty of football to be played. BCS Championship – Oklahoma vs. Auburn The Sooners have tough trips to Missouri and Oklahoma State, but should get through the Big 12 undefeated. This is where it gets sketchy: would a one-loss Auburn team (if they lose at Alabama) get past an unbeaten Boise State or TCU to get here? We think the SEC’s clout comes through again, which shouldn’t surprise college football betting players in the slightest. Orange Bowl – Florida State vs. Ohio State The Seminoles should have enough in the tank to win the dreadful ACC, while the Buckeyes should snag a BCS spot if Utah loses to TCU on November 6th. If not, the Utes should be undefeated for the season, and that would give them the spot over a one-loss Ohio State team who will be kicking themselves for losing at Wisconsin. Rose Bowl – Oregon vs. Michigan State The Spartans should win the Big Ten only because they don’t play Ohio State this year, and that also hurts their strength of schedule. The Ducks should win the Pac-10, but they won’t go undefeated as someone will likely catch up to their high-powered offense: at USC on Halloween, or at Oregon State in the Civil War in the regular-season finale. Fiesta Bowl – Missouri vs. TCU Betting services would likely pit this as a game of Mizzou’s Big 12 offense against a TCU defense that has ranked first in four of the last nine years, and are currently second in the country right now. The Horned Frogs are in the same boat as Boise State, but with a worse non-conference schedule. The trip to Utah means everything in the world to TCU as well. Sugar Bowl – Alabama vs. Boise State This could be the best Northbet game of the bunch. Alabama should be in this game, but don’t be surprised if the loser of the SEC title game gets picked. Meanwhile, Boise State suffers yet another dismissal by the BCS, and you have to think that they’re starting to get bitter about it all, which could make for an exciting game. Again, we have to see whether a one-loss team from a BCS conference, either Oregon or Auburn (or even the Crimson Tide) gets into the BCS title game over Boise State or TCU, but we’re not sure the Broncos’ conference schedule get them in. Online betting sites will have a close eye on this situation.
Those are some great games. Selfishly, I hope it's correct and Oregon goes to the RB because it's a game I can attend. It doesn't appear I can make the NC game due to scheduling conflict. Yes, Oregon has an amazing offense. But, their defense isn't exactly shabby either and could be one of the most underrated in the nation. After Monday's practice, Oregon coach Kelly said on the whole Kelly said that he's very happy with the way his defense has performed halfway through the season. "I think they've been really good," stated Kelly. "They bring a lot of pressure -- we're right up there in the country in sacks, we're right up there in tackles for loss -- we can really put pressure on the quarterback in a lot of different ways that can allow people to get to get to the quarterback."
