<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former University of Kansas men's basketball player Nick Collison will have his jersey officially retired during a ceremony at halftime of the KU-Michigan State game on Tuesday, Nov. 25, in Allen Fieldhouse, school officials announced on Tuesday.

A native of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Collison was chosen as 12th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft to the Seattle Supersonics. Last season he was named the NABC National Player of the Year, the Big 12 Male Athlete of the Year, a consensus first-team All-American and the Big 12 Player of the Year by the league's coaches.

The concept of retiring the jerseys of outstanding Jayhawk men's basketball players was initiated prior to the 1992-93 season when banners honoring Clyde Lovellete, Danny Manning, B.H. Born, Charlie Black, Paul Endacott, Wilt Chamberlain and Charlie Black were unveiled in the south end of Allen Fieldhouse. The original criteria for a retired jersey included KU players named college basketball player of the year, most valuable player of the NCAA Tournament or being named a four-time All-American.</div>

Nice to see a highlight for him in an otherwise disappointing season. Some nice names to have his jersey next to as well.

He really doesn't have much of a legacy at Kansas yet.

Second alltime in points scored and shots blocked, third alltime in rebounds and led them to the championship game twice in the last 2 years (had 19 and 20 vs Syracuse). Maybe a bit early, but no doubts he deserves to be there at some point.

It seemed like Collison and Hinrich were at the school for ten years instead of four years. Nice to see his jersey retired, regardless of time, because he did make a great impact on Kansas basketball during his tenure.

Collison certainly deserved it.He did alot for Kansas in his time there.I actually got to see the game where he got 22 rebounds. He was all over the court.
