The only professional team in Oregon in any major sport signs a deal with Comcast AFTER the team wins the draft lottery. Either Oden or Durant, hey, what a deal! Then Comcast makes ridiculous demands on both competitive cable companies outside of Portland-metro as well as nationally to DirecTV and Dish Network. Milk it for every penny; people want to see this team!!!

Oden, the prize for this huge deal and the inferred reason for this hardball Comcast stance, has played exactly 13 minutes since Comcast and the Blazers screwed a large portion of their fanbase for the mere fact that they didn't happen to be Comcast subscribers.

Now the schedule sets up for a poor start even without Oden. I hope Comcast goes bankrupt, which looking at their stock price they seem to be headed toward, and I hope the Blazers come to their sense and DEMAND that Comcast sells CSNW at the same price they sold their other REGIONAL networks to local cable companies and satellite providers.

CSNW advertisers: are you happy that a fraction of the people that could be seeing the ads you pay for get to see them? I sure hope CSNW isn't quoting you the all-access numbers that KGW can quote you. If so, I'd be suing...

Blazers, are you happy with the Comcast jinx?

I knew this was going to happen. Same thing when paul allen tried to start ASCN years ago.

Comcast can keep all their portion of Blazer games. I have season tickets and watch the rest online. Fuck Comcast. I'll never give them a penny.

Yeah Comcast is pretty pathetic. CSNNW is the ONLY Comcast Sports channel that DirecTV and Dish don't carry. And this comes at a time when the top product the channel offers (Blazer games) is in very high demand. So gee, I wonder what's the more likely scenario: DirecTV and Dish asking for abnormally low rates that are less than that of their other current agreements, OR Comcast trying to charge a ridiculously higher rate for this one channel due to the recent increase in popularity? Which company is being greedy here? Of course, that's business: when more people want something, you can charge a higher amount for it. But this has gone on for far, far too long now. I've heard from a number of sources "in the know" that Comcast wants about $2/customer, which is very high, more than FSN even. Non negotiable too. If you read the release by Canby Telecom, they back this up saying exactly the same thing. Speaking of which, most of the companies that Comcast lists in their silly TV and newspaper ads (which is nothing more than an obvious ploy to get fingers pointing elsewhere) that get CSNNW are laughable. I don't mean any disrespect to these companies, but does Scio Cablevision even have 100 customers?

Anyway, as someone already said, we are indeed preaching to the choir, so I think I'll stop. :sigh:

I have Season Tix and Comcast and feel for all of you w/o either. Once dish or direct tv get CSNNW I am jumping ship. I can't stand comcast one bit. Their HD lineup is horrible also.

1-3, and much of Oregon still can't see...

Plus Quick said Oden is still experiencing a lot of pain in his foot and may not even go on the trip that starts next week.

Oh well, I'm sure this is all just a coincidence. :dunno:

Oh, also a great article today in the 'O' where Ryan White is talking about the Blazers wanting to co-opt former Sonic fans and are hitting the town with some ads.

The problem? If they don't have Comcast yet have League Pass, even the games in Seattle are blacked out.
