For my term paper, I'm doing the treatment on freedmen and confederates during the reconstruction, and how Andrew Johnson's views on them played a role. I've found it very easy to find sources for the freedmen; for the confederates, not so much.
Does anyone know of any writings by confederates, which contain information about their treatment after the Civil War, especially during Johnson's time (and slightly before and after)?

    Thanks in advance.
