    I know that maybe this doesn't seem like big news but Burt was absolutely adored by the fighters and has been a mainstay in the UFC for the Zuffa tenure.

    Burt has been involved in combat sports for decades and was close friends with the late Joe Frazier.

    Burt invested himself in the boys and went to great lengths to help any way he could. The reason 1/24 fighters miss weight every event instead of 1/8 is Burt, Babysitter to the Stars.

    The rumour is that he had an argument with a low-level UFC official over something to do with Mark Munoz. Burt is a classy guy and he may never speak of why he quit. He's in his 70's and the constant travel and the energy output he demanded of himself might have accumulated.

    It will be impossible for the UFC to replace him.

    Word is Mark Munoz was late arriving to the arena and someone from the UFC gave Burt shit over it. At that point Burt realized he was literally too old to take shit from anyone and left.

    This sucks, he was a mainstay. The fighters LOVED him.
    Good for Burt though. He's had a long career with the UFC. I've also read that his wife undergoes dialysis, so I'm sure he wants to be with his family more often.

    And fuck Mark Munoz. I don't like that guy.

    FRB, who broke the story, says it was a member of Rousey's entourage that chided Watson, and Watson was incensed when Dana White sided against him.

    UPDATE regarding @BurtWatson4real. Burt got into an argument with a member of Ronda's entourage.

    @FrontRowBrian 13m13 minutes ago
    When Dana was made aware of argument between Burt &the member of Ronda's entourage, Dana sided with Team Rousey. Burt was insulted and quit

    I was told by 1 source that Ronda is the only 1 they'd cross Burt for. Burt took a lot of pride in what he did &didn't like to be questioned

    There was an "incident" of sorts with Munoz but it was a separate incident and not serious compared to argument with Team Rousey.

    White's track record over the last two or three years is shocking.

    If that is all there was to it, it seems like an over-reaction by Watson. It's hard to work with somebody you are not allowed to ever disagree with.

    Still no word on who it was that caused problems for Watson. He told Ariel Helwani that it did stem from Mark Munoz's late arrival at the event. Apparently the separate altercation with the Rousey camp was not very serious. He didn't want to get into specifics. Sounds like the UFC didn't have his back which is really unfortunate considering how much of himself he gave to them over the last fourteen years.

    For those that don't know his role he wasn't just a hype man. He coordinated the fighters backstage to get them ready to come out and fight on time during an event. He had a similar role for weigh-ins. During fight week he would check in with fighters and have them weigh-in multiple times to make sure they were on track to make weight. He wasn't the ringleader but he was a critical part of the UFC's traveling circus.
