If you would have told me that KC would allow only 9 points into the third quarter, I would have bet my house that the Chiefs were winning. Good thing I'm not a gambler. The D showed up, the O stayed home.

I can't believe LJ barely gained any rushing yards....Was this some sort of freak accident or did the Colts miraculously fix their atrocious defense?

Colts proved the doubters wrong...It was another good game by the defense who has answered the call this season against the tough teams when many have doubted them....

    NY Giants(21 points)
    New England(20 points)
    Cincinatti(16 points)
    Kansas City(8 points)

This defense is really underappreciated....Freeney is one of the best defensive ends in the game on the near same level as J-Taylor and J-Peppers....Bob Sanders is a top flight safety..The defense has more speed than many give them credit for....

The Colts only have to prove it to themselves. Was it you and half the media who predicted them to win the whole thing this year? The spread was Colts 7 Cheifs. Colts have never been dubbed the underdog. Their defense needs to put together 3 more games like that, will they? I have doubts.

How much of it was the Colts' defense stepping up and how much of it was KC's defense stepping down? The game plan all along was to run Larry Johnson. So the Colts put 8 and 9 men in the box because the Chiefs are lining up one receiver and one tight end who stayed in to block. They run twice for minimal gain and then Green throws and incomplete pass. Punt.

The Chiefs went the entire first half without a first down, primarily because they failed to adjust. If they would have come out throwing or lined up a bunch of 3 and 4 receiver sets, they probably would have at least moved the ball in the first half and gave their defense a chance to rest.

With so many three and outs, it's no wonder the Colts turned it on in the 2nd half. If you hold the Colts to 9 points and Manning throws multiple picks, you should probably win the game.

It still confuses me why Huard didn't start the 2nd half.

Regardless, the Colts won. Time will tell if the defensive showing was a fluke or not.

Since Tony Dungy and Peyton Manning have joined forces in Indianapolis, the expectation for that team has risen steadily over the past few years. Dungy was the undisputable reason for the peaking of Tampa's 2002 defense, which was acknowleged by then coach Jon Gruden. If he could do that for Tampa, then surely he could do it in Indy, given help from one of the most potent offensive attacks in history. Then there's Manning, who is flawless most of the time, and already has a bust waiting to be unveiled in Canton regardless if he ever wins the Big Game. Manning has all the offensive tools he needs to be successful, and the Colts have put up the best winning percentage in that period of time.

For the first time in as many years, I am going to put the "Colts" and "underdog" in the same sentence beginning this week.
