Well Carmelo finally got his wish and I'm very proud for him. This is well deserved in my book and many across the nation that he is now elected to be on the Olympic squad.
Yeah I dont know if they would have invited him if Rip accepted his invitation.It will be cool to see Lebron and Melo play together like it always is though.
Congrats Melo! He got what he wanted and he's going to be so exciting in the Olympic games. He wanted to serve his country, and he's going to do, just that.
There goes Michael Redd shot at making the team. Well if I were Carmelo Anthony I would turn down the invitation. After all he's done throughout the NBA season they finally give offer him an invitation? They offered invitations to players like Brad Miller, Lamar Odom, Carlos Boozer and Dwayne Wade. No disrespect to any of those players, they're all great players, but neither of them should have get an invitation over Carmelo. They made Carmelo go through hell thinking that he was going to get an invitation. If LeBron got one he should have gotten one too. Now that Team USA committee is scrambling to fill the spots up, and get the team ready that's when they offer Carmelo a spot? That's just plain stupid if you ask me. Just to make them go through even more hell, I would decline the invitation.
Dont get to exited boys. Melo wont be seeing much PT over in Athens behind Jefferson, Marion, and LeBron. Looks like theyll let any punkass into the Olympics these days.

The olympic team was in sore need of roleplayers though.. it just boiled down to his position being very talent-rich.. I'm glad he made it though. And I think refusing a spot on the olympic team--regardless of what he 'went through', would be stupid. It is (well, should be) an honor to play in the olympics. Can't pass that up, really. And anyway, he would be taking away from all of his fans just to get back at the selection committee..?

But there was a point where the USA Team committee was inviting wildcards. They were just throwing names in there regardless of positions. So that's why I believe Carmelo should have got an invitation over players that I've mentioned. And I think most may agree that during the time period that LeBron got an invitation Carmelo should have been next.

I don't see why he won't get that much PT......He put up just as many numbers as LeBron did but the difference is Melo didn't have all the hype that LeBron did. (Big ups to LeBron) All I'm tryin to say is give props where props are due and Carmelo deserves some props.
