McGregor confirmed rumours at the UFC 194 post-fight press conference that he had successfully negotiated a new contract with the UFC prior to his title unification bout with Jose Aldo. However, McGregor is rumoured to be looking for a new deal and has demanded in excess of $20-million per fight, 2-3x more than Anderson Silva or Brock Lesnar earned during the boom period (2005 or so). McGregor referenced the UFC's $10-million gate for UFC 194, their highest ever, and the possibility that UFC 194 will be the highest selling PPV of the year if early indicators are correct. McGregor is angling to be a business partner of the UFC the likes of which they haven't allowed previously.
cue DFW saying 'the UFC made Connor McGregor, not the other way around' if contract negotiations don't go well.
He'll get it. The UFC can't afford to lose him or get on his bad side. He is literally 1 of 3 or 4 legit young stars the UFC has.
