**Read this entire post before starting** We're going to have a live draft right here in this thread, everyone will be able to select one player at a time. There will be 12 rounds in the draft and anybody can participate. At the end of the draft when everyone has their teams together, I will turn this thread into a poll and we can vote on who constructed the best team from scratch. There are going to be some guidelines to this draft to ensure it is done with the utmost integrity: 1) The draft will last 12 rounds, you must wait at least 10 posts between picks before you may select your draft pick. So basically just wait for 10 people to make a pick and then you can make your next pick. Do this 12 times and you got yourself a team. 2) Your team must consist of a realistic starting lineup of a C, PF, SF, SG, and PG. Bench players will be at your own discretion. 3) No duplicate players may be drafted. If someone picks Shaq, that means he is off limits and nobody else can pick him. Posts with draft picks containing duplicate players will be deleted to ensure the thread remains clean and to minimalize any sort of confusion. 4) We will be using a hard salary cap of $43.87 million dollars, which is the salary cap of the 2004-05 NBA season. While the real NBA has a soft cap, you will not be allowed to exceed this hard salary cap of $43.87 million. This means you can't have starting lineup of Shaq, KG, Kobe, Duncan, and Iverson because that will put you far over the cap. You're going to have to construct a realistic team with 1 or 2 superstarts and a lot of role players because of the hard cap, which will make this very interesting. 5) When you reply to the thread with your draft pick, make sure you state their salary next to their name and with each new pick you make every 10+ posts, make sure you post and add up the salaries. You can check the salaries of each player at the NBA Player Salary Database on USAToday's website: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/basketball/...es/default.aspx 6) With each draft pick you make, besides stating their salary also add up the salaries of the players you've picked so far so you and everyone else knows how close to the cap you are. If you go over the cap before selecting 12 players, you automatically forfeit the rest of your picks regardless of how many players you have. If you select KG and then you select Shaq, you're already over the cap and you can't go back. 7) Once enough people have participated to the point where there are at least 10 completed teams, that's when i'll make this thread a poll and we'll vote on who has the best team. We did this same thing on a hockey forum that I belong to and it was a huge success and a lot of fun, so it should be great. Have fun .

My first round pick: Allen Iverson (13.5m) btw I noticed that the salaries are 03/04, am I in the wrong page or that's what we're using?
My first pick: Shaq $26,517,858 That salary is when he was with the Lakers. There wasn't a salary listing for this year.
If I'm allowed to play... First Round Pick, Kevin Garnett - $16,000,000 I'm astonished nobody picked him yet.
