<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Michael Cooper owns five NBA championship rings. But it took the strange case of the missing sneaker to prove he knows how to coach in this league. Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony - who often plays beyond his 20 years but does not always act his age - lost a shoe while recently playing against the Los Angeles Lakers. The game did not stop. Anthony did. He pouted, as if the world should cease spinning to grieve his exposed stocking foot. Within seconds, Cooper removed Denver's moping star from the floor and gave him an impromptu lecture on professionalism, hustle and focus.</div> http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,3...2657638,00.html I like how Michael Cooper is able to handle his players fairly. He can go hardcore on them but can also give credits and he's someone that players easily relate to. Now, the only thing both parties have to work on relations is the Xs and Os. I still think Denver will rise eventually to the elite team that everybody thought they were before the season began. Good article, Nuggets should keep him.
Yeah i definetly don't think the Nuggets should do anything harsh this season. The last thing we need is to bring a new coach in, because the players have to get used to the coach and vice versa. It's never a good thing to hire a coach from outide the organization during mid-season IMO. Give him a shot.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"It's all about what's going on on the court," the coach said. "It can get heated, but the thing that I like to know is there's an open line of communication, and that's why when I bring him out of the game I sit him down and we talk about what's going on. "We've got a great communication line. We can talk. We can say things to each other that he probably couldn't say to another coach, because I'm not going to take it personal, because I know. I've been in his position, not shooting the ball well, not playing well, not doing other things. Then you do things right, so you can say things to the coach. That's what I like."</div> http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,3...2657641,00.html Another Cooper-related article that I really like. To me, for the players to listen to the coach and buy their sytem, the players must first have respect for him. If you can establish open communication like this, you get respect.
Cooper is a good choice of a coach for the Nuggets, for at least the rest of this season until they could shop around for possibly a better coach. Cooper used to have some of the same situations on the court and knows how to relate to Carmelo. Good to see he is showing the players that he won't let them get away with acting immature and like a premma donna.
