Let me be clear re: Ellsbury I have a reliable source saying he will be in NY taking a physical in the next day or two. On Twitter...Retweeted by Mike Silva I will believe this when it happens.
If the sign him I would think that would mean no Cano? Also Gardner could then be put on the block for pitching or a 2nd baseman.
Yea, that would make sense. If not 2B (if Cano signs), then perhaps 3B. Maybe if they package Gardner with Sanchez, the possibilities increase. If the Yankees can find their way into landing Tanaka, and if Kuroda accepts their reported offer - I would call LA about pushing a CC-Kemp deal. Yankees can get by with Ichiro for 1 more year in RF, if they have Kemp in LF and Ellsbury in CF. Soriano moves to DH, and hopefully Jeter can play another year as the starting SS, with Ryan in reserve.
Holy Crap it is happening...Bye Bye Cano? http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer...ng-close-to-a-sevenyear-deal-with-the-yankees
7 years about 2 years longer than i'd like for a speed guy but trashman gets no one without overpaying.
7 years 153 mil. A done deal? Wow I think he will make them dynamic but now what to do with Gardner? Do they still sign Cano? Pitching? 189 down the toilet?
Gardner is cheap so if not traded for P,2B or 3B will play left with hopefully either choo or beltran in right and soriano dhing
...don't know if this would necessarily mean that Cano is history just yet...this might jolt Cano and his crew into a reality check. Elsbury is about a year younger than Cano and if Elsbury gets 7 years, there's no reason to think Cano would get any more than that.
Cano signs for 100 over 4 years. Seen shortly thereafter cursing in spanish and smashing jay z in the balls with a baseball bat ha ha ha
As everyone knows from my previous posts, I am thrilled with this signing. A true leadoff hitter who can steal at will. I believe that this then allows the Yankees to put a package together headed by Gardner plus minor leaguers to San Diego for Headley. If we were successful in getting Beltran, that would put 3 switch hitters in the everyday lineup. I am of the opposite opinion of most here, Cano stays, this seals the deal. There is no way he is going to Seattle.
...^^^ you're not alone, mb...I've felt all along that Cano will remain a Yankee. ...and yeah, I can't imagine Robbie in obscurity in Seattle and watching his numbers drop dramatically in that park...then again, if he's only looking at the money, he won't care.
