Do guys think you could have won it with Paul, Ray Ray, and Big Al? Remember you would also be getting Gomes and an improved Sebastian Telfair. What do you think? I personally think KG's defense was too valuable and could not have been duplicated by those guys. As good as they are, it just wouldn't have been the same. I'm just wondering what the rest of you thought.
In agreement 100%, Garnett's defense had a huge impact on this team. Their ability to rotate defensively was largely based on his ability as both a man defender, and a help defender downlow. Al Jefferson simply did not bring the defensive mentality that Garnett brought, and without Garnett, this was not a championship team.
I don't think they'd even get to the Finals without KG. He was a force defensively, whereas Al is a pylon.
No chance. KG changed the entire personalty of this team with his intensity and commitment to defense. Prior to this season you never heard Ray Allen or Paul Pierce being mentioned for playing good defense.

KG, PP and Ray had a chemistry going and Perkins and Rondo benefited from it. Heck I'd got so far as to say if James Posey wasn't on the team the C's wouldn't have made the finals, he added a lot to the team to that doesn't show up in the stat sheet.
