TO PENN STATE. Pretty unbelievable, considering PSU lost at OSU by 35 as the Bucks hit the century mark. Recently they also lost at Wisconsin by 29, but they did play better at MSU (losing by only 9) and home versus Michigan (losing by 6). My opinion is that the Nittany Lions are an actual good team, a much improved team from earlier, and that they'll win a few more games before the Big Ten is over. However, it's also my opinion that NO Big Ten contender can afford to lose at home, and dropping one to PSU is even more lethal if you're in the conference championship race. I thought Illinois was playing above their means anyway (Dee Brown is hot and cold, James Augustine is good and McBride is a good three point shooter. That's it, does that seem like a top 5 team in the country to you?), but they still can't afford this. Gonzaga now has the longest home winning streak and since most teams they play in conference suck, that should be extended at least until next season's pre-conference games.

When Dee Brown's hitting from outside, they're one of the top teams in the nation, but he's inconsistent as hell. He always seems to come up big when it matters, like in the Illini's blowout of Michigan State, but then he disappears in games against teams like Penn State. With a player as inconsistent as Brown leading the team, the Illini could be facing a really early tournament exit this season. Lunardi having them as a #1 seed was a joke. The only way I can see the Big Ten having a #1 seed this season is if Michigan State wins every one of their remaining games, including the Big Ten tournament.
